Our local Sentiers Wakefield Trails are short forest trails and paths around the village of Wakefield and they are enjoyable to walk and hike using Nordic Poles. We Nordic Walk every Monday morning at 8:30 to 10:00am starting at the Centre Wakefield La Peche. The schedule is posted on www.meetup.com/NPWalking . The Nordic Walking group helps with fundraising efforts for Sentiers Wakefield Trails and is responsible for providing several of the trail benches you will encounter on your hikes. The Trans Canada Trail now called The Great Trails was extended from Gatineau Park through Wakefield along the River Walk in 2018, crossing the river at the covered bridge and running through Hendrick Park at Fairbairn House Heritage Center. Support the Sentiers Wakefield Trails
The sentiers Wakefield trails are truly a legacy we can all be proud of. Your gift will help nurture, protect and enhance this national treasure for future generations. Our Sentiers Wakefield Trails (SWT) organization is made up entirely of volunteers – people who love our unique, magnificent Gatineau hills as much as you do and want as many ways as possible to get out there and be part of the landscape.
The SWT has plans for trail improvements and enhancements for the coming year and your financial contribution will make this work possible. Funds go towards such things as trail building tools and materials, historical plaques and other initiatives that make our section of the Trans Canada Trail culturally, historically, geographically and environmentally relevant to locals and the thousands of visitors who trek through our hills.
